Classes and Workshops in Monteverde, Costa Rica


Acting Adventures (Weekly Class): ** COURSE IS FULL **

Participants will develop their acting and performance skills by playing fun theater games and learning how to create their own characters with backstories and personalized characteristics. This is a bilingual course; instruction will take place in English and Spanish.

Ages 8-12, Grades 3-6
Tuesdays, 3-4:30pm, April 19-May 24 (6 weeks)
Total cost for 6 weeks: 20 000
Scholarship options for 6 week course: 15 000, 10 000, 5000, or full scholarship

Samba Drumming (Weekly Class):

Registration form
Learn to play traditional Brazilian drums and immerse yourself in the fun and electrifying world of samba. This is a bilingual course; instruction will take place in English and Spanish.

Ages 8+, Grades 3+
Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm, April 27-May 25 (5 weeks)
Full fee: 15 000
Scholarship fees: 10 000, 5000, 3000, or full scholarship

 Discovering Drama (One-Day Workshop): ​

Explore the world of performance, pretend and play! Learn how to use your words, body and voice to express emotions through fun games and creative activities. This course will be taught primarily in Spanish (translation assistance will be provided as needed for students who are not confident speaking Spanish). Each Saturday morning workshop stands alone; sign up for one or more than one.

Ages 6-9, Grades 1-3
Choose 1 or more dates: Saturday, April 23; Saturday, May 14; Saturday, May 28: 9am-12pm
Full fee per Saturday workshop: 10 000
Scholarship fee per Saturday workshop: 6000, 3000 or full scholarship ​

TikTok Acting and Dance (One-Day Workshop):

In this workshop we will be learning fun TikTok dances and uploading them to the organization's TikTok account. We will also make some acting videos by using lip sync. No dance or social media experience is necessary! Everyone is welcome to participate. This workshop will be taught primarily in Spanish (translation assistance will be provided as needed for students who are not confident speaking Spanish).

Ages 12+, Grades 6+ (6th graders must be 12 years or older)
Thursday, April 28, 5-8pm
Cost: FREE (suggested donation 2000-5000 colones)
Pizza dinner will be provided!

Musical Theater (One-Day Workshop):

Are you interested in participating in our 2022 musical theater production but not sure what to expect? Or have you participated in our shows before and can’t wait to get started? This workshop will help you see what it’s like to be in a musical and feel confident auditioning for the show. You’ll learn a short song and dance from our 2022 production (soon to be announced). This workshop will be taught primarily in Spanish (translation assistance will be provided as needed for students who are not confident speaking Spanish).

Ages 10+, Grades 4+ (4th graders must be 10 years or older)
Saturday, May 21: 9am-12pm
Cost: FREE (suggested donation of 2000-5000 colones if you can)
Pizza and other snacks will be provided!

Protocols Against Covid19

The health and safety of our participants and their families, of our staff, and of the Monteverde community is our top priority at all times. We follow all MEP protocols with the support and experience of the administration of the Cloud Forest School.

​To participate in our programs, participants and their families must commit to the following:
  1. All participants must pre-register and submit a permission form signed by the participant and their legal guardian.
  2. The participant must NOT attend class and our staff must be notified immediately if the participant or anyone in their household has tested positive for covid19, has been exposed to covid19, or presents any of the symptoms of covid19.
  3. All participants must wear masks both indoors and outdoors, unless eating or drinking.
  4. All participants will have their temperature checked and must wash their hands upon arrival at the school campus.
  5. Participants must maintain a distance of two meters between themselves and others.
